The library is an indispensable source of acquiring knowledge and information. Located at the first floor of the main building, our library is an integral part of higher learning in the College stocking all the necessary books and periodicals that the students and faculty consult to enrich literary and academic strength. In addition to the specious hall of the library that possess collection of large number of books pertaining to various disciplines like Science, Social Science, Humanities and Commerce, the college library has a separate reading room where the students and faculties read books and secondary material of their interest in their spare time. Besides books covering the prescribed syllabi, the college Library subscribes to various Newspapers, Journals, Magazines, Reference Material etc in order to cater the varied academic and creative needs of the students for the upgradation and smooth functioning of the college library, the college constitutes Library Committee that decides and adopts policies to constantly upgrade its facilities and activities for the benefit of the student community.

Games and Sports

The college has a separate Physical Education Department that conducts different games and sports activities in the college campus. The Department not only encourages the students to participate in games and sports of their interest and choice but also provide facilities of all the sports activities like cricket, volleyball, football, table tennis, badminton, chess, carom kho kho etc. Besides the games and sports activities that students enjoy in the college campus, the college also participates in the Inter-College Sports events organized by the Kashmir University. The Physical Education Department of college also conducts various Intra-college games and sports in all the major sports activities. The college provides necessary facilities like uniform, equipment and refreshment to the participating students during the conduct of these. The Department organised various games and sports throughout the session, 2015. The separate Road Race was organised for boys and girls students on 1st and 27th August 2015 respectively.

Internet Facility

After implementation of Local Area Network (LAN)/WiFi in the college campus Internet facility is provided to students and faculty members of the all the departments and administrative units.

Cultural Activities

Culture is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society_ E. B. Taylor. Gone are the days when the education was confined only to academic programmes and student’s attention was focused only on these programmes. However, with changing trend the students have started taking part in co-curricular activities for channelizing their hidden abilities. Since the aim of education is to foster all round development of students that covers their physical, moral, intellectual and social development. In order to realize this aim and fulfill the needs of our students to develop their personality, the college provides various cultural activities whereby the students of our college take part to channelize their capabilities and expressions. The aesthetic, moral and social development like character building, spiritual and moral values, art and creativity are fostered through the conduct of these cultural activities. By taking part in these cultural activities the students grow physically, mentally, morally and socially. The students express themselves by taking part in cultural activities like debates, seminars, paintings, dramas, musical programmes and other competitions that the college conducts. The Debate and Cultural Activities Committee organised Seerat Un Nabi (Saw) Conference on 1st 0ct. 2015 on the topic “Establishing World Peace and Justice in light of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (saw)” in which a good number students participated enthusiastically, the distinguished invited guests, faculty and the rest of students attended the daylong conference.

Education/Subject Tours

Education Tours are very important for the overall development of students. They provide varied opportunities to the students to learn from their own experiences to realize this need, the college takes the students to places famous for architecture, scenery, climate, culture, history, art, industry, technology and development where the students observe and get first hand experience. The college provides ample opportunities to the students to take part in various educational and subject tours. During the winter vacation, the college conducts education tours outside the state to acquaint the students with different places, people, cultures, religions and many more. And during summer the subject tours of zoology, botany, environmental Sciences and history are conducted for various field works to broaden the mental horizons of the students. In addition, the Commerce students are taken to different industrial units and industries for on spot observation to boost practical skills. In this respect, the Excurrsion/Tour and Travel Committee organised different Subject Tours to various places of the valley during the session,2015. In addition, the college had separate excursion for boys and girls to Gulmarg.

Red Ribbon Club

The college organized various programmes like International Youth Day, World AIDS day under the agies of Red Ribbon Club. The Red Ribbon Club under the Chairmanship of Worthy Principal of the College organized International Youth Day on 12th of August 2015, with the theme “Youth Civic Engagement” and “Kadam Badhaao- a step towards change”. In this connection, the College organized many events from 10th to 12th August, 2015. On 10th August, a daylong campus cleaning drive was launched, in which more than 150 NSS volunteers participated. On 11th August, various extension lectures were arranged on topics like “Women Entrepreneurship and Decision Making Process- A Step Towards Change” delivered by Dr. Muzamil Jan, (Post-Doctorate), Assistant Professor, Extension and Communication, Department of Home Science, University of Kashmir, Hazratbal, Srinagar. She revealed various issues pertaining women and encouraged young women to start their own economic ventures. She also put-forth women decision making power within and outside homes. The Second extension lecture regarding “Drug Abuse” was arranged with the support of Mr. Gh. Hassan Bhat (IPS), D.I.G, Central Kashmir and Mr. Syed Fayaz, SDPO, Magam and was delivered by Dr. Mohd. Ashraf, Drug De-addiction Center, District Police Line, Baramulla. He awared the students regarding the cause of involvement and harmful effects of drug addiction. He also suggested preventive measures to control drug addiction. The session was chaired by Madam. Sammar Naik, SDM, Beerwah.

On the concluding day of the event, an extension lecture was delivered by Dr. A. G. Reena, BMO, Beerwah regarding “Transmission, Symptoms and Preventive Measures of HIV.” He awoked Youth of the College regarding this vulnerable and dreadful disease. Moreover, various Modals were also presented by students depicting the theme of the event.

Career Planning and Counselling

The College has a permanent Career Planning and Counseling Cell (CPCC) with advanced study material and internet facility. The purpose of the Cell is to provide services and resources to students in career and educational planning as well as help them in job searching. The Cell invites entrepreneurs and experts in different fields to interact with the students so that they understand the issues and concerns and find ways to cope up with their problems. In this regard, the Udaan recruitment drive was organized by this College during 22-23 of June, 2015 to facilitate the unemployed youth. During this recruitment drive, nine multinational companies like Mount Talent Consulting, Future Group, Fidels, IL and FS, Orion Security Solutions, Relaince HR Services, Rooman Technologies, Sahaj-e-Village and IMS Health visited the College in connection with the Udaan recruitment drive. The team lead by the Co-ordinator Udaan of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) were facilitated and all kinds of logistic support was provided to them.

It was a mega recruitment drive, a large number of job seekers reached this institution on both days of recruitment. Out of 503 students appeared, 277 students were recruited in various multinational companies. The students were highly satisfied with the recruitment drive. The College Career Planning and Counseling Cell (CPCC) involved themselves and made the drive highly successful.


The National Social Service (NSS) unit of GDC Beerwah have involved the students of this college in activities that promote a sense of belonging to the society and foster in them a spirit of social serviced. During the year 2015 the NSS unit of the college arranged a gamut of these activities, a general purview of these activities is briefly presented as under:

  • Celebration of World Environment Day.
  • College Campus Cleanliness Drive.
  • Swachi Bharat Abhiyan.

The principal actively involved himself in all the activities and encouraged the volunteers a lot.

Grievance and Redressal Cell

The college has a Grievance Redressal Cell comprising senior faculty, which takes care of grievances of the staff and the students. The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged by any student, and judge its merit. The Grievance cell is also empowered to look into matters of harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the department members in person, or in consultation with the officer in-charge Students’ Grievance Cell. In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at Administrative Block.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell

The College has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell to monitor the functioning of different organs of the college so that they work to the best of their capabilities. The Cell is functioning according to the set guidelines of the UGC under the senior faculty.


The College provides canteen facility to both the students and staff. The canteen runs on contract basis and makes available basic food items and snacks on concessional rates. To ensure cleanliness of the canteen and sale of hygienic food items, the college constitutes Canteen Committee that looks after the functioning of the Canteen.

Transport Facility

The Institution has acquired a bus to provide transport facilities to its students at concessional rates. This facility plies through Railway station Mazhama to College campus. The bus is also used for various college activities and subject tours organised by college.
